FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP FAQs:
1. What is the workshop all about?
This workshop is all about Food Photography, and how to take really appetizing photos. This one-day workshop will teach the participants the different trends of food photography, with details on plating, lighting and some food styling techniques. There will also be hands on experience and a critique at the end of the day.
2. Who is the instructor?
Miguel Nacianceno is this workshop's instructor. His photos can be regularly seen in leading food and lifestyle magazines. You may see a collection of his works at http://www.mignac.com.
3. How long does the workshop take?
The Food Photography Workshop is a one-day course from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on September 12, 2009, Saturday. We will have lunch and snacks in between sessions.
The workshop will be held at PINO RESTO BAR, 122 Maginhawa St. Teachers Village, Quezon City. Map and Directions can be found at http://pinopinopino.multiply.com.
4. What is the schedule for the day?
The Workshop starts with lecture in the morning, followed by hands on activity and a critique session to cap the day’s events. There will be lunch and snacks in between sessions.
5. Will I get to shoot?
Yes, the hands on activity will be a mini food photography shoot. There will be around 10 plates that will be served for shooting purposes. These 10 plates will be broken down into two sessions. Watch out for the 2nd session, this will be fun!
6. What happens after we shoot?
There will be a critique session where the head chef of the restaurant and instructor will evaluate the quality of the photo. Each participant will submit two best photos of each dish they will shoot and these will be critiqued.
There can also be a Q&A portion if there will be more than enough time left.
7. Do I need to bring a DSLR? What else do I have to bring?
Yes, a DSLR is still the best choice for a camera, but this workshop is also point and shoot friendly. Point and shooters are welcome! We require a digital camera because the photos will be submitted at the end of the workshop. You may bring other film cameras as secondary cameras but you may only use them once everyone has finished taking photos with more than enough time to spare.
Kindly also bring the following:
· IR/radio trigger if your camera does not have a sync cord adapter.
· Other camera accessories – you will have a chance to use them.
· Writing materials. Handouts will be provided for, but most of the time the lecture is participant-based and spontaneous so it’s best if you have materials to jot down notes.
8. Where do I sign up?
A Php500.00 registration fee/downpayment is required upon signing up. You may deposit the fee at Gray Area Studios’ BPI FAMILY Bank Account: Gray Area Photo Resource, Inc. (Account number is 6001-0532-62).
Kindly email the deposit slip with your name and contact information at grayareastudios@gmail.com, then you will then get an SMS/Email confirming your slot reservation. You may settle the remaining balance during the workshop day itself or may opt to pay the entire amount in full.
There will be a minimum number of 15 participants. Should we not meet the minimum amount of participants, we will be more than willing to refund the deposited amount.
A 10% discount will be given to those who will register and pay before August 31, 2009.
